Project Description:
During the early months of the COVID-19 pandemic, I created a commemorative poster featuring Ohio Governor Mike DeWine to encourage public mask-wearing and community responsibility. Inspired by the powerful graphic design and propaganda posters of the World War II era, I developed the piece with a bold, patriotic visual style that reflected the collective effort required during a time of uncertainty. Much like wartime posters encouraged citizens to unite behind a shared cause, this design emphasized the idea that wearing a mask was a small action individuals could take to support and protect their communities. After completing the artwork, I had the poster professionally framed and mailed to Governor DeWine at the Ohio Statehouse. A year later, I received a personal letter from him featuring his handwritten note of appreciation for the artwork, making this project a meaningful example of how design can communicate encouragement, unity, and public service.
